FunnellVision - Don't You....Forget About Me
Tuesday, March 10, 2026
As we are deep within the drafting stage of the fantasy baseball offseason, picking healthy players is always a priority. However, in leagues with spots on the Injured List, there can be value in stashing away injured players. With that in mind, here are players who are set to return at some point this season, worth stashing. Listed is their current NFBC ADP cost.
Catcher
Sean Murphy - hip (380)
expected back in May
should receive close to every day at-bats, despite Drake Baldwin’s ascension
First Base
Triston Casas - knee (401)
won’t play in Spring Games
has yet to do much of any baseball activities
could split time with Willson Contreras, who, in turn, could see time at catcher
Second Base
Tommy Edman - ankle (323)
off-season ankle surgery
ruled out for Opening Day
hasn’t faced live pitching yet
return by June doesn’t seem out of the question
Third Base
Jordan Westburg - elbow (154 and dropping)
opted not to have surgery
don’t know how his body will respond to a partial tear in his UCL
could be season-ending
keep him on a short leash
Shortstop
Anthony Volpe - shoulder (340)
had offseason surgery for a torn labrum
has advanced to hitting from a tee and overhand tossing
has also run the bases and defensive drills
won’t be able to dive on the shoulder until April
shoulder is still feeling fragile
returning in May is still on the table
Outfield
Lourdes Gurriel - knee (464)
torn ACL surgery in September
return by Opening Day would make for a 6.5-month absence
adamant that he will be back for the start of the season
has been further along than normal, and continues to check off boxes
worth a stash, but with a warning: re-injuring one’s ACL is a high probability
