It means no worries for the rest of your days. Here are players who are listed on their teams’ injury reports that do not worry me. This is based on how the team is presenting the ailment or on the actual injury. All that being said, this list is subject to change as new developments arise.
Jackson Holliday - 2B Baltimore Orioles
He is advancing to live at-bats this week and should be moving forward from there
Expected to miss minimal time on the Injured List to start the season
Should be back mid-April
Jose Ramirez - 3B Cleveland Guardians
Felt better the day after the injury
The team didn’t think his situation warranted additional imaging
Has yet to return, but is considered day-to-day
George Valera - OF Cleveland Guardians
Suffered a mild calf strain over the weekend
Already begun running, and is hopeful to return in the coming days
Opening Day is in doubt, but more so for timing as opposed to health
Merrill Kelly - SP Arizona Diamondbacks
Suffered a back injury at the beginning of camp
Has made progress ever since then
Made his Spring Training debut last Friday and looked shaky
Is expected to begin the season on the Injured List in an effort to get more time on the mound before pitching in the majors
Matt Strahm - RP Kansas City Royals
Contusions are merely bruises
Barring unforeseen developments, he should be back within days
New injury, so not much is known with respect to severity, but chances are this is minimal
Kyle Harrison - SP Milwaukee Brewers
Blisters are common in the world of pitching
They take time to dissipate and disappear
Can recur over a season
Should be minimal time away from the team, if any
Carlos Rodon - SP New York Yankees
As far as surgeries go, this one does not worry me
Had bone chips removed months ago and is within the proper timeframe for a return
Has had a smooth recovery
Expected to miss minimal time on the Injured List
Jeremy Pena - SS Houston Astros
Fractured finger tip, not finger
Has had a quick recovery process, checking off all of the boxes promptly
Needs to clear the hurdle of swinging a bat and making contact over the weekend
No real long-term effects here
Francisco Lindor - SS New York Mets
Same as Jackson Holliday, just quicker in his recovery time
Has seven plate appearances this spring
Needs to work on timing before the Opening Day decision is made
It’s a problem-free philosophy, Hakuna Matata!*
* fingers crossed…..all injuries have the possibility of setbacks and ramifications that we can’t initially see. That being said, these seem safe in their own right.
