FunnellVision - Two Major Injuries
Sunday, March 15, 2026
Yesterday was a big day for many reasons, but one of them isn’t what we wanted to see. Two players within the Top 100 picks overall got injured, and both situations don’t look promising. Here is the latest injury news for you this morning.
Zach Neto injured his left hand
This was a scary situation yesterday, as Neto went diving headfirst into home plate, injuring his left hand/wrist in the process. What we know is this: the belief is that he will be okay after tests and imaging. He made an appearance last night and was able to give some context on his situation.
Going forward, we don’t know the exact diagnosis just yet. It could very well be a fracture to prevent it from getting worse, or it could be a severe case of swelling. Whatever the case, this likely won’t be a short-term solution that is gone within days. The immobilization could be something prescribed for weeks. If I were a betting man, I’d guess that he begins the season on the Injured List.
Seiya Suzuki injured his right knee
Gulp. That’s not what anyone wants to see happen in an exhibition game. There are various speculative reports right now about what happened, as some say knee discomfort, while others say a knee contusion. Regardless, neither is ideal, as the potential options of what it is are scary. Suzuki could have a bone bruise, some kind of fracture to the patella, or something not mentioned here. It’s too early to speculate, but it’s at least a good sign that he was able to limp his way off the field and individually walk out of the stadium under his own power. Still, nobody wants this.
In conclusion…..
We should find out more information in the coming days on both of these situations. Here’s hoping that these aren’t as serious as they both currently look, but it’s hard to stay positive. Barring any miscalculations or both players waking up feeling much better, it would appear that Neto and Suzuki will begin the season on the Injured List. It would be wise, from a fantasy perspective, not to overreact, as these injuries are hopefully minor and likely won’t result in extensive absences. Stay tuned for updates in the coming days before making any decisions on your teams.
