MLB Injury Report
Thursday, March 12, 2026
Here is the latest MLB Injury Report for Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Bryce Miller suffers a setback.
Apparently, Miller was going to work through it, but at the very last minute decided against it. Oblique injuries are very tough to overcome, especially as a pitcher. If someone pitches too soon, it’s very easy to re-aggravate the injury and possibly make it even worse. As such, it’s a good thing here that Miller stopped before doing additional damage. That being said, with the season right around the corner, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him on the 15-Day Injured List to begin the year, and Emerson Hancock take his place in the rotation.
Kyle Teel will miss at least the first month of the season.
Teel injured himself while trying to leg out a double for Team Italy at the World Baseball Classic. It is being classified as a Grade 2 hamstring strain. It’s a very unfortunate development, but the good news for the White Sox is that Edgar Quero is a very capable replacement for him and should be able to hold it down for the team in the meantime. With such a tenuous timeline and given the physical needs of the position, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him miss more than the four-month minimum. Catchers use their hamstrings on every single pitch as a defensive player and as a hitter.
Brooks Baldwin is injured, too.
Tomorrow will be one week since Baldwin last played. It remains to be seen when he will return, as there has been no talk yet about a possible Injured List designation. Should he miss time, the non-switch-hitting Luisangel Acuna would slide right into the lineup and get some at-bats.
Ryan Mountcastle leaves Wednesday’s game with a right-hand injury; no fracture
Mountcastle is day-to-day with this injury, and the good news here is that it is likely just a contusion. It will be interesting to see how his hand responds in the coming days. I like Mountcastle as a late-round sleeper here, as I think he’ll get traded somewhere like Atlanta, who needs able bodied hitters to slot right into the lineup.
Spencer Torkelson has a bruised forearm.
It looks as if Torkelson will return to play as soon as the bruise subsides. Such an unfortunate situation here, as it happened in a simulated game, which is usually a very safe space for all involved.
The Brewers have two lingering injuries to their rotation.
My Spidey senses are tingling here. First, Logan Henderson had a right flexor strain to end the season. He was diagnosed with that in the middle of August, and by season’s end was deemed to be healthy. He advanced to bullpen sessions after one month of recovery, and then by October, apparently, all was well. The good news is that it was originally diagnosed as a Grade 1 flexor strain, so chances are the timeline was fine, but here we are in March, and he’s unable to ramp up.
As for Quinn Priester, his situation worries me, as he just can’t recover as well as he’d like, and his wrist continues to hurt. We should know more today or tomorrow. It wouldn’t be surprising to see both of these players begin the year on the 15-Day Injured List, or higher.
Brandon Lowe has lower-body soreness.
There wasn’t much else news-wise regarding this injury. A reminder, though, that Brandon Lowe has an extensive injury history and isn’t necessarily a quick healer.
